Agro Eco-Louis Bolk Institute is an agricultural advisory organisation with their headquarter in the Netherlands and two offices in Ghana. They have over 35 years of experience of which 15 years working with smallholder farmers in Ghana. Together with different farmer organisations, cocoa companies, NGO’s etc. they have implemented a large range of projects to improve farming and rural livelihoods.

Agro Eco provides support to (farmer)organisations and companies in all kind of certification labels (organic, FT, RA, Utz), setting up Internal Management and Monitoring Systems to enable them to go into discussions with farmers and make sure they become farmers that implement good agricultural, social, environmental and business practices (impact training).

 

Agro Eco develops projects with the emphasis on climate smart agriculture, biodiversity, carbon sequestration and work with a landscape approach. Together with research organisations, government institutions, NGOs and cocoa companies they have implemented a large range of projects and work on innovative ideas and interventions to improve the livelihoods of the farmer in all their complexity.
Agro Eco together with IFOAM is currently developing value chains for the following products from Ghana (cassava), Togo (pineapple), Burkina Faso (sheanut) and Sao Tome & Principe (cocoa). The objective of the project (Organic Markets for Development, OM4D) is to strengthen the national organic movements and the domestic organic market (PGS) in these four countries.
